Doctoral Candidate Positions


Aalto University was created in 2010 as an outcome of a high-profile merger between three leading universities in Finland - the Helsinki School of Economics, the Helsinki University of Technology and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (DIEM) of Aalto University conducts world-class research and education focusing on the creation and transformation of technology-based business. The department is seeking to hire 3 Doctoral Candidates to new areas of research within the department’s three strategic focus areas: strategy and venturing, operations and service management, and entrepreneurial leadership. Our internationally acknowledged research and close connections to diverse industries are the foundations of our highly recognized teaching. The track record of Aalto Industrial Engineering and Management Doctors is excellent. Our academic placements include among others Stanford University, Imperial College Business School, University of Southern California, IE Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, McGill University, and Sungkyunkwan University. The Aalto Industrial Engineering and Management Doctoral program provides a exceptional basis for starting an international academic career.

The approximate timescale for completing the doctoral degree is 4 years. The employment will be two years full-time for the first contract, which can be extended to cover the rest of the doctoral study. The maximum funding period is 4 years in total. Good command of English is a necessary prerequisite.
