The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (DIEM) at Aalto University, School of Science is the leading department in its field in Finland. Industrial engineering and management combines technological, economic, and organizational knowledge in order to support value-creating processes and successful business. The department focuses on the creation and transformation of technology-based business, which is examined from three complementary perspectives: strategy and venturing, operations, and people. The department has a long-standing history of highly multidisciplinary research in collaboration with industry and other organizations. This research has an outstanding societal impact. Internationally acknowledged research and close connections to diverse industries are also the foundations of our highly recognized teaching.
